Kids in the City (KITC)  is a place for kids to go after school to learn and to be safe. It is the hope that every church would open its doors to latch-key kids between the hours they leave from school and when their parents return from work. It is an opportunity for the Church to serve its immediate neighborhood and become a relevant and vibrant part of their community. Each program is designed to cater to those living in the neighborhood of the host facilities. If you would like to host a program in your neighborhood please contact Melissa Dinesen. There are four programs that will be running this fall. Ignite at Ferndale (25 Ferndale Cres) Masterpiece Theatre at The Bridge (256 Brock St) Come Cook with us at Third Space (Park and Wolfe St.) Come Cook with us at The Bridge (256 Brock St)  Masterpiece Theater operates from 3:45 until 5:30 pm every Tuesday starting on September 18th. The program is for youth who are 9 - 12 years of age. The program is geared to foster the development of children in three areas: Life Skills, Movement, and Creativity. Life skills can be defined by activities that will build confidence for healthy future living such as cooking, building, gardening etc. Movement is designed to encourage active living whereby "team playing" is introduced. Creative is designed to encourage children to voice their expressions while appreciating others abilities. This is done through creative arts, drama, music etc. Ignite operates from 3:45 until 5:30pm every Monday starting in September. This program is similar to Masterpiece Theater but unique in that it serves the Ferndale communtiy  Come Cook with Us at Third Space is geared for ages 8 - 14 years of age and there families. This program is operating every Tuesday from 4:45 until 7 pm. Children arrive to prepare a 3 course meal and then invite their families to join them in eating at the dinner table at 6:15 pm. Come Cook with Us at The Bridge is for children ages 8 - 14 years of age with a maximum capacity of 15 children. This program will be starting again in September.  |
